Today, we are faced with many perceived challenges. These challenges range from individual health, and family to finances and many things in between. The way in which we meet these challenges is through our ability to rise above the current circumstances and create solutions through our actions. Many have heard the statement that, “our health is our wealth.”  This means that our overall health plays the greatest role in overcoming obstacles and attaining wealth. I would like to modify this statement to read “our optimal health is our wealth,” and believe this is the answer to many of our current challenges. Optimal Health is the achievement of the best possible state of our mental self, physical self, spiritual self and emotional self. Optimal health is the lens through which we view life. I would like to offer a few initial concepts we must accept in order to fully commit to an optimal health objective.

I believe in this very moment, that we possess all that we need to achieve anything in life. What I’m saying is that there is nothing outside of ourselves to seek, there is only the greatness inside of ourselves to accept. Hereby, there are three distinct concepts we must accept. The first concept is understanding that we are unlimited beings, with unlimited potential. The only limits to our potential are the limited beliefs we carry about ourselves. Think BIG!

The second concept is that we have tremendous power always at our disposal; the power of choice. We get to choose our greatest good in every aspect of our lives. This implies that we are taking full responsibility for our life in its current situation and moving forward. Choose GREATNESS!

The third concept to embrace concerns the beautiful and magnificent human body. The body, one of God’s greatest creations, only knows how to do one thing and that is to live! Every system within the human body has the ability to refresh, regenerate and restore itself. For the body to do what it is designed to do, we must use our unlimited potential and our power to choose to give it the best. The body system may be looked upon as a team. The team consists of the mental state, the physical state, the spiritual state, and the emotional state. All of these states must receive your optimal attention in order to achieve your greatest, most optimal health condition.

Now, let’s take these fundamental concepts of ourselves and focus on how we provide support to the following states of being and begin to build our optimal health in; the mental, physical, spiritual and emotional states. 

The Mental State or mindset. This is where everything begins. What are your consistent thoughts? Do you have positive or negative thoughts? Have you convinced yourself that you can achieve optimal health? These questions are easily answered when you choose to shift your consistent thoughts to bring them into alignment with your greatest good. When you decide to think positively about yourself, family, community and environment everything shifts. Remember that what you put out, you get back. This also pertains to yourself. Positive thinking gives the body system the positive instructions to repair, regenerate and restore. So make the choice to create a positive mental state.

The Physical State is next. A body that’s in motion stays in motion. The human body needs exercise, movement, activity! Make a commitment to exercise 3 to 4 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. Choose your activity such as walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, etc… Do something that you’ll enjoy. Choose to be committed, disciplined and consistent. The amazing thing is that small changes can produce huge results.

The health of the physical body is directly tied to proper nutrition and hydration. Remember, you can’t outtrain bad nutrition. So, to improve nutrition, begin with hydration. The human body  consists of between 70% to 80% water. The body needs water to perform all of its functions. Start your day with 16 ounces of water upon waking in the morning and continue to sip 6 to 12 ounces per hour during your day. 

Additionally, eat more living foods, such as fruits and vegetables. The wealth of nutrients in these foods, once consumed will increase the body’s ability to regenerate and restore itself. Also, limit the amount of processed foods. Processed foods contain unwanted chemicals and large amounts of processed sugar and sodium as preservatives. Choose now to give the body system the nutrition and positive physical activity it requires.

The Spiritual State. Here is where you choose to believe deeply in the good inside yourself. Believe that a Universal Power loves and cares for you. Choose to believe in  yourself and have faith that there are only positive outcomes in your life. See the best in yourself and believe  that perfect health and wellness is obtainable. Certainty or strong belief creates a body system that is open and available to good, great and wonderful things. Developing the spiritual state also means to make the choice to move forward knowing that God is the source of all supply. Infinite possibilities are welcomed through spiritual faith. If Optimal health is your belief, optimal health will be your outcome.

The Emotional State. Choose to be happy. Live a life filled with joy! This may not always be easy, so the best way to find your best feeling is through gratitude. Find things to be thankful for everyday. Gratitude is an acknowledgement that you have been given something. The feeling of possession lets you know that more is coming and that feels good. So wake up daily and give appreciation and then continue your day choosing those things that feel best for you. If it doesn't feel right, it's probably not right, so make a different choice. Follow your bliss!
